This year for Day of the Dead, we returned to something special; a tradition that began last year with Mario, one of our Territory Account Managers. Every year, this holiday holds deep meaning for him. It’s a time to honour loved ones who have passed, to gather, and to celebrate the lives they lived.

Inspired by the traditions of his hometown of Monterrey, Mexico, Mario led the charge on not one, but two special brews this year: Xoloveza, an Imperial Stout, and Ofrenda, a Mexican Dark Lager.

Ofrenda takes its name from the altars built to welcome spirits back to the world of the living, adorned with candles, food, and offerings meant to guide them home for one day every year. Take this beer as an offering of its own: a collaboration with Mario’s favourite hometown brewery, Cervecería Fausto, and our very first collaboration with a brewery in Mexico.

Brewed with dark malts and flaked corn, Ofrenda has notes of toasted sourdough bread, caramelized raisins, and a hint of fresh rain on rocks. It’s light-bodied yet dark, crisp as well as caramelly, and is a beer meant for sharing, remembering, and celebrating those who came before us.
