This ongoing barrel blend series is named Barn Owl, as a nod to the wise and exacting animal that keeps watch over the farmhouse. Released sporadically throughout the year, just as soon as we deem the barrels ripe for the picking, these beers will be one-off creations never to be replicated again.

No. 4 is a blend of brett farmhouse ales and exactly the kind of beer we love making and drinking -- dry, slightly funky, subtly tart but not intensely sour (we love sour beers but this one isn't loaded with acidity), with a hint of fruit. The farmhouse ales were aged for a year in old use oak barrels with a variety of brett strains and currants, and after tasting the final result we know this is a fruit we'll be incorporating on a much more regular basis. (We were all a little googly-eyed).
